Introduction

The Local Action Group BolognAppennino (LAG) brings together representatives from community organizations and public from across the area of the Appennino Bolognese to guide and manage the LEADER programme – Axis 4 of the Rural Developing Programme of the Emilia-Romagna Region. The essence of LEADER funding is that the programme has to be managed locally with the “bottom-up” approach. Before the LEADER 2007 - 2013 programme started, the LAG managed the European Programme LEADER PLUS 2001 - 2006.

The name LEADER comes from the French words Liaison Entre Actions de Développement de l´Économie Rurale and means an extensive rural development. EU financing is directed through LEADER into maintaining vitality and attractiveness in the rural areas by creating jobs and industrial opportunities.
